The broad sweet spot runs November to April — the dry season's cooler, drier weather with calm seas and excellent visibility. Summer is warmer and muggier with more chance of midday storms, but the water stays bath-warm pretty much year-round, and mornings are usually calmest whenever you go. Winter is also high season, so book boat days ahead — the good multi-stop trips fill. Between November and February a passing 'norte' wind can roughen the channel between Cozumel and the mainland for a day or two; guides reschedule around it.
