Dominica sits in the eastern Caribbean's hurricane belt, so the calmest, clearest snorkeling tends to come in the drier months, roughly December to May, when the sea is settled and the west-coast bays run clear. The wetter half of the year, roughly June to November, brings heavier rain and the Atlantic storm season with it — runoff can take the edge off visibility near river mouths and exposed coasts pick up swell, while the sheltered bays on the leeward west coast stay the most usable. Water stays warm year-round, so a rashguard or a thin shorty is all most people need. Verify conditions and any reserve or park arrangements locally before you commit a boat day.
