Seagrass is the unglamorous part of a reef trip and often the best hour of it. Posidonia meadows filter the water, hold the sand in place and shelter the small life that bigger animals come in to eat — turtles and rays among it — so drifting a meadow slowly is a different kind of snorkel: quieter, greener, and much better when you stop finning and just look. All three of these are Mediterranean meadows where the catalog records a genuine feature rather than a green patch, and all are in areas where anchoring is restricted, so use the moorings and licensed operators that exist specifically to keep them there.
