St. Lucia's catalog entry is a west-coast one, because that is where the island snorkels: the leeward shore shelters from the Atlantic, and it is where the Pitons rise straight out of the sea above managed marine water. Anse Chastanet's reserve puts shallow coral a short swim from the sand beneath them, Anse Mamin next door is the quieter version of the same water, Anse Cochon's calm bay lies further north, and the north-west holds Pigeon Island National Landmark with reef in the bays on either side. The Atlantic-facing east coast takes the swell, and the island's famous deep sites are dive sites — neither is part of a snorkel plan.
